Xee³: Image Viewer and Browser App Reviews

Update killed retina support

Now I always have to set the zoom level to 50% on my retina screen. Worked in previous versions. Saving permissions to browse all directories does not work anymore as well. Update: Now scrolling performance while image is zoomed in seems to be worse as well. Delays and lags everywhere on a Mid 2015 15" Macbook Pro with 2.8 GHz i7 + AMD Radeon GPU

Crashes opening png files

Crashes with SIGSEGV every time I open a png file

Rip OFF

I bought Xee3 from the Apple store. Later I got a notice that my trial period had expired. I thought I bought it free and clear. I still use Xee2.

indie app product at its best - great quality!

Its packed with great and unique features. Personally I was pleasantly surprized with loss-less image extractions from PDF. Xee even saved all the metadata, like color space. Give it a try and see what it could do for you!

Wish I could return

Clunky; the app only appears on one of my two monitors (on El Capitan on Mac Pro.) The app does not traverse subfolders. The command to “browse subfolders” was missing so I did add the shortcut, but even then it won’t do that. Once at the end of a browsed folder (again, not all subfolders) you are forced yet again to go to Finder to traverse to the next folder. Am reminded again why buying anything from the AppStore is stupid.

PERMISSIONS!

Permission for every folder? Really? Or, i can’t find setting to disable this very usefull function?

Awesome

What can I say, I love this program. The slideshow function with ability to move images into predefined folders based on hotkeys, while the slideshow is running, is an invaluable way to quickly sort images.

Xee 2.X series is much faster (and free)

When I saw that Xee 3.X was available on the App store, I was excited to buy it and support the developer. However, I noticed that Xee 2.X which was free for download was much faster and felt lighter than version 3 in the Mac App store. I’ve since deleted the Mac App store version and continue using the free 2.X version even though I paid for 3. I sure wish I knew why version 2 is lighter and faster than 3!

much better than preview!

its a good little app with a lot of cool features that Preview doesnt have, my favorite is the fact that you can browse pictures that are contained in an archive file without having to decompress the archive. good value for money!

Don’t buy it

lot of regression with this new version regarding Xee2. Don’t buy it until a serious upgrade

Good application

Xee is a good image viewer with few interesting options.

Slower then the previous version

I love see (version 2) but version 3 is somehow not usable anymore : Version 2 is faster than version 3, a lot faster and has the old fullscreen mode which is easily accessible by simply pressing “f”. I don’t see a single improvment only regression. : But I don’t feel so bad, I just pretend I payed for Version 2 and I’m happy (:

cute, but far from acdsee

for instance no random option for slideshow, no view all selected pictures option available when selecting all in finder

Uses to much Memory

The program currently uses far too much memory. For each open window there are at least three, sometimes even six threads which use 100 times as much memory as the filesize. Arbitrary rotating is only possible without zoom. Even with that much caching, the program is often slow. Fully entering full screen takes often more than half a minute.

The best viewer

If there is a Faststone on Windows, on Mac OS - would be Xee3. The best graphic viewer from the set I tried on. A little bit anoying request to get an access to the folders. But that is understandable - sandbox policy...

Jammed my mac

Useless. I had to restart my mac 4 times - every time I tried opening the app or a picture with it, it jammed. I never saw the picture opening and quite frankly for the price I ran out of patience. Seriously? I wish I could get my money back.

Getting better!

Wrote a review of version 3.1 earlier. Was a terrible update. I’m now happy to report that Version 3.3 (Didn’t notice any difference between 3.2 and 3.3) is much, MUCH faster at opening the file I complained about in my first review. It took 71 seconds! Now in Vers. 3.3 it takes 12 seconds… getting better. Hoping further updates will get down to the same time as vers. 2.2 (7 seconds), anything else would be a step backward. Keep up the good work!

Great Program but the load time between normal Jpg photos is slow

I guess my previous review was deemed inappropriate for some reason. My only frustration with this paid update to the app is the amount of load time it takes to go through images. It is not ususable for showing people photos and takes too much time. I really like a lot of features in this software, so really want to be able to use it again. I’ll give you 3 stars until a hopeful update as the single star may have been too “inappropriate".

Loading too slow

loading pictures too slow, too slow ,too slow

Great app

Well for me, this app is fast and works really well. I’ve been using it since the beginning.
