I’ve been a big fan of Xee for years. This latest up date isn’t as fast as the old version, I think due to treansitions or what not. Still a great app most of the time. The sandboxing stuff gets annoying, btu I’m not sure what you can do there.

Zee works great. I was looking for a Windows Photo Viewer Replacement. This is it. You can even reassign keyboard combinations to mimic the Picture viewer functions. One feature I like is its ability to make each picture view in full screen. I created a keyboard shortcut for this as well. The only thing I wish it had a “Back” function. I’d like it to take me to the original file directory to view another set of pictures.
Please also provide 2 more features 1. A thumbnail strip in fullscreen view (maybe bottom or right to screen) , so that I can quickly select which image I want to view. 2. Pre-load next-and-previous images, this is helpful when reading image files from a NAS drive Other than that, it is perfect. Best feature I like is that I can easily move images around different folders.
I’m using both Windows and OS X and this is exactly what I needed for viewing images. Simple, fast, stable and not expensive at all.
This is the only reader that works well with multi-touch gestures like pinch to zoom, swipe to turn page capable of opening CBR/CBZ files. There could be some tweaks here or there, and it takes a few seconsds to load a comic… but once open, there is no lag. There are others that say they do the same thing, but are laggy beyond compare.
I knew this app from the old PC days, and really like it. Was glad when I saw that is available for the Mac (was looking for something to browse through multiple photos in a folder, without importing them to iPhoto/Aperture). It does NOT work with Yosemite — or at least in my case. (MBPro late 2013.) Thus it was a complete waste of money.
I always used Xee instead of Preview app because of the arrows to move between the photos. And what a surprise when i have bought the xee3. There is no arrows anymore! I have to backup the older version and use it. Please add this thing and will glad to change the review.
The app crashes immediately on startup on 10.10 Yosemite.
I use Xee3 to scan through my photos before uploading them to SmugMug or Flickr. I love how fast and versatile the app is, without the heavy weight of Lightroom and Aperture (useful if you are going to retouch photos, but too much overhead for just reviewing photos and removing duds). Feature requests: - Love using the SHARE functionality when I come across a good image, but the Hand Off thru Yosemite to OSX8.1 SMS means you can’t share or delete until the transaction complete. - Love the Delete button, but can you add a move, label or show in finder functionality so I can review a folder full of images and pull out images that I don’t want without having to leave Xee. - Love the Magic Trackpad support for flipping thru images. Can you also add arrow key support? - Allow for the ability to set labels and other meta data tags to let folks tag and sort images - Often I want to compare two photos and flag which one is best, be a cool feature to allow side by side or onion skinning compare Keep up the great work on making this my go to photo viewer and slideshow app.
Since I upgraded to Yosemite I cannot use it. xee 3 quit unexpectedly.
full screen does not work right in 10.10 Yosemite. Version 3.4 exists but not here where I’ve already paid.
Vastly superior to preview. Glad the 3.4 update is out. Seems to be working on Yosemite now.
This is the best image viewer on OS X, period. With the latest update, image loading speeds seem to have increased as well. However this app is by no means perfect, and here are some suggstions to make this even better: 1. Glad to see that the long running quirk on Yosemite with immediate full screen view switching was finally fixed, but the dock still shows at the bottom even when the app is full screen (my dock setting is always show, but other full screen apps are able to hide it) :-( 2. Preview conveniently saves image rotations when the images are closed, can Xee do it too? 3. It would be nice to automatically show and hide the image info as the mouse cursor hovers toward the right side of the screen. And also auto hide the pane once the mouse moves back :-) 4. Instead of Shift + *, can the default fit to window shortcut be Command + 9? That way the Command + 0 can be right next to it. Pressing Command + 0 to toggle fit to window and actual size would work too. Cheers!
I’ve never bothered to leave a review for any of the other lightweight image viewer applications which I’ve tried. Now, however, I found one which I finally actually prefer to all the little niceties I wanted from Irfanview without all the extraneous bits. First rate, simple, and with just enough without “too much.” Very nicely done indeed. Not enough to detract from the rating, but the performance on extremely large directories does bog down… but extremely large directoreis tend to do that to most apps.
If all you need is a very simple image browser and slideshow player, then this will do the job. It basically allows you to browse through a folder of images one image at a time. If youre looking for slightly more sophisticated features such as a thumbnail view or thumbnail view with adjustable sizes (essential for viewing more than one image at a time) look elsewhere.
so, i buy the app and once it’s fully downloaded onto my mac, it won’t open? i uninstalled it, and then reinstall it but it still won’t open. help ??
I’ve been using some version of Xee for years now. It’s fast, convenient, and a pretty powerful little app for viewing large amounts of images. Absolutely worth the $4 they want for it. It’s never crashed, even when flying through 100’s of 7mb photos. If you often have to sort through large numbers of images, Xee is for you.
Its pricey for what it does, since it really is just a fast, slick image viewer. But if you need to fly through a ton of images quickly, stopping to zoom in and examine them along the way, I’ve yet to find a better app for that. Its super smooth and fast on my 2011 MBP and makes going through lots of pics easier than ever. Like I said, its pricey, but it does exactly what I needed.
xee does not have permission to read the contents of this folder? how come this happen? how to process the refund?
It’s OK but I never use it because it’s very slow. The free version 2.2 is far faster and it’s what I use instead. A pity really because I paid for this hoping it would give me something better. Oh well.
